Roger Sanna was born in Sardinia (Italy),
but presently lives and works in London. In the 1990s he
discovers his inclination as a painter, an activity which
he cherishes and grows with vigour by making references to his inner
world of childhood experiences and adult dreams. His
artistic talent came to the fore when he joined an Art Studios in London. Here his creative approach
developed with increased mastery and technical control. The most obvious credit to
his paintings, apart from the accurate use of colour, is
the subtle use of forms and media which typically hits the
observer with a reference to what could be abstract, figurative and even
surreal, the expressive means which are the base of his
creative thought. The themes in Sanna's paintings are rooted in his native
Sardinia, in Italy and in his host country England. His
most rooted, most ancestral emotions are strongly
represented in his paintings, the instrument by which
the author digs into the deepest recesses of his imagination and memory. They tell us, sometimes with calm passion, sometimes
with great vigour, the stories that carry the observer
to the inner psyche and to the dreams of the
artist.
